It is not uncommon for individuals to regard their embryos as their prenatal children

Published on

Some parents choose to get tattoos to commemorate their children who have been lost through miscarriage. This morning, I am reflecting on the profound impact that pregnancy loss can have on us. I have experienced two miscarriages, both occurring around the six-week mark. At the time, both were distressing, and if I allow myself to consider the matter further, they continue to be distressing to this day.

Those who advocate for the right to choose are motivated by a variety of factors, including concern for women and deeply held beliefs about bodily rights. Many individuals do not view early embryos as morally significant.

It is challenging to comprehend why some individuals are unable to grasp the notion that a significant proportion of the population views early embryos as children. In the context of the abortion debate, many individuals espouse the view that the “embryo is a child” concept is peculiar and confusing, or even delusional or irrational.

However, this is a misrepresentation of the reality of the situation. It is a normal and understandable phenomenon to view one’s offspring as one’s prenatal children. It is also normal and understandable to recognize that if one’s embryos are one’s prenatal children, then so are one’s own.
