How do we communicate a message of life and hope in a society that treats both as expendable?

As I sat in our church social hall, I was compelled to perceive the potential for a significant undertaking. A group of us had convened during Sanctity of Life Month with the intention of re-launching a pro-life ministry within our church community.

As I stated in my book, Mercy’s Power, “This is a critical time in the history of our world and of our faith—a time when advocates for life must be more persuasive and courageous than ever before.” In the post-Roe era, we face daunting challenges. How do we communicate a message of life and hope in a society that treats both as expendable? How might we overcome the considerable financial advantage held by the abortion industry as we endeavor to rebuild a civilization of life and love?

This process begins with the individual’s spiritual beliefs. One need not adhere to any particular faith or lack thereof to espouse the sanctity of human life. Nevertheless, churches continue to play a pivotal role in providing care for those who are most vulnerable in our society. It is therefore evident that church pro-life ministries are of significant importance.

During this Sanctity of Life Month, there are numerous straightforward actions that your congregation can undertake to promote the gift of human life.

  • It would be beneficial to organize a baby shower for a local pregnancy resource center. There is a high probability that the center would greatly benefit from the diapers, onesies, and infant formula that you collect.
  • It is recommended that a prayer service be scheduled to petition for the restoration of the rights of preborn children and their mothers.
  • It would be beneficial to host a speaker from a local National Right to Life chapter to educate and enlighten the public about the pro-life cause.
  • Register voters at your church.

It is reasonable to posit that further ideas may be forthcoming. It is evident that pro-life activity does not require a single month of the year to be dedicated to it. Indeed, each day of the church calendar represents an additional opportunity to celebrate and honour life in all its glory.
