A recent inspection of a Philadelphia abortion facility has revealed the limitations of relying on abortion centres to police themselves.
In November, inspectors identified a number of health and safety violations at the PPSP Far Northeast Health Center.
Firstly, the facility failed to dispose of outdated supplies. These supplies included the instruments used to conduct abortions. When asked to provide the facility’s policy regarding discarding outdated supplies, no response was provided.
However, the violations did not end there. The inspection also revealed an unclean ultrasound machine, the use of latex gloves on the operating floor, and the presence of blood-like substances at the bottom of the refrigerator in the facility’s contamination room.
The approved plan of correction is not on file.
This is an unacceptable standard of operation, particularly in a medical facility. Despite the unsanitary conditions, the Pennsylvania Department of Health website continues to list the PPSP Far Northeast Health Center as “open.”
It is beneficial to recall the rationale behind health department inspections at this juncture. In the past, there was a lack of inspections in Pennsylvania, which was attributed to pro-abortion politics.
Then came the case of abortionist Kermit Gosnell and his West Philadelphia facility, which came to be known as the “House of Horrors.” Investigators believed that Mr. Gosnell had committed the criminal act of murdering hundreds of newborn babies by “snipping” their spinal cords. Ultimately, prosecutors were only able to pursue charges in a limited number of cases due to the extensive destruction of records by Gosnell.
Gosnell is currently serving three consecutive life sentences for the murders of three babies. Additionally, he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in relation to the demise of a female immigrant patient, Karnamaya Mongar.
In the meantime, pro-abortion lawmakers in the state legislature are seeking to pass a constitutional amendment that would eliminate all protections for preborn babies, including abortion centre regulations.
In light of the fact that abortion facilities in Pennsylvania are frequently failing inspection, it is clear that such a proposed policy could lead to the emergence of future Gosnells – individuals who would be willing to compromise women’s health and safety in order to make a quick profit.
